New Year's review

I was looking back over my posts for 2010. They are certainly more numerous than in past years. I credit that to a great flist that respond with sympathy, joy, gentle hugs/nudges or whatever is appropriate for the occasion. *calls for group hug*

This year has brought less travel but more meaningful travel. I skipped a few things and concentrated on others. I did drive to Atlanta three times this year and will be heading back that way at the end of the week but it was all good stuff. The only new place I went was Crystal River which was wonderful. I got to swim with the manatees.

I got to speak at a conference and then had an article published because of it. Those were both firsts for me. I think I want to do both again.

I got a little crazy at times this year. Took on too many projects at once and had short periods of insanity but I survived and so somehow did the people around me.

I had some special times with my daughter. We made our birthdays special by taking the day off and sharing a mutual love for flowers and wildlife. I posted a butt load of flowers, butterflies and birds and then turned a couple of my pictures into bookmarks for Christmas. I miss creating a LOTR card but the bookmarks were a fine replacement.

We are still doing fine "money-wise" and the latest is that my daughter has a part-time job so everyone is working. She works for one of the insurance agents in my office. Now she has money to put away for expenses and for a future move.

Another victory was my son moving out. He is still doing well. We get together once a month for dinner and we spent both holidays together. He lost a bunch of weight and looks great.

My health has been up and down this year (nothing major) but mainly due to the weather. Too much cold weather for our part of the world. I had surgery this year. That was very satisfying in that it solved a problem with incontinency that I have suffered with most of my life and it was getting worse. I still have to take a pill even after the surgery but that just shows how bad it was. My knees survived the year and don't seem any worse for it.

I didn't lose any weight in fact I gained a bit. That's rather discouraging but I have a new gain for 2011. I travel to Hawaii in January of 2012 and I'd like to be a bit slimmer. Actually I'd like to be alot slimmer (100 lbs. slimmer) I'm not sure how to go about it but I need to see this happen.

I only wrote two fics this year which isn't unusual for me but I'm promising to do more. I have two WIP that I would like to see rewritten and finished and now I have a new beta to help me. I also plan to finish the random pairs challenge that I took on in 2010 and try a new RP community.

I see a new year full of adventures and new possibilities. I'll try to take care of myself and not overextend but push myself from my comfort zone when the opportunities present themselves.

Glad to hear the year brought you some good things, and that less travel didn't mean you didn't enjoy it :) Pushing our comfort zones isn't a bad thing as long as we're going in the right direction!

I already know of two conferences I won't be attending because of schedule conflictions. That makes it easier to say no. I know that's kinda cheating in the "saying no" department but I'll take what I can get.

I'd like to do some more speaking this year and perhaps another article. Of course it would be nice if I knew it was being published so I could add or delete a few things.

It's good to have people you can count on to be there for the bad as well as the good, isn't it?

Congrats to your daughter on her new job and to your son for doing so well moved out on his own.

I think we're all planning to lose weight this year, aren't we? *g*

A few ventures outside your comfort zone is good, but definitely don't overextend - that way lies madness. ;)

I hope 2011 is everything you want it to be, hon!

Congratulations on the conference and paper. That is an amazing achievement.

I wish you luck with the writing, and the weight loss.

It is great to have online friends like you.
