Feb. 17th, 2011

The hour is late and I'm still awake. Had to wait for my son to come over and pick up some mail. I thought I'd take the opportunity to catch up. I haven't done much writing or posting of pictures but I have been reading and commenting.

I have some good news. Despite a bad economy my hubbie got a pay increase. The bosses have been talking about it forever (or so it seems) but with a raise freeze we didn't see it happening then HR found out and checked things out and discovered that hubbie was woefully under paid for his position and ding he had a raise.

My daughter got a job before Christmas that we thought was just part-time and temporary but she is still going strong and working 5 days most weeks. It's kinda' cool to get up together in the morning and drive to work together.

I'm starting a new class in two weeks and this time I'm the student not the teacher. I promised myself that I wouldn't overdo it but when I discovered that the class would only be taught in the Spring (not the Fall) I decided to do it now. It's about 14 weeks long but at the end I'll be an official Master Gardener. *grins*

I'm heading to Texas next week for a training (which is why I've been so quiet) so things are a bit busy. I have lots to get finished so I'm ready for everything that will arrive right after I get back. I think I'm in pretty good shape and if I keep on target I'll get everything done that I want accomplished. Accomplished always feels good. It's been kinda cold in Texas so I don't know if any flowers are present but if there are you know I'll photograph them.

My daughter and I are going to the Ren-Fest this weekend. I'm looking to expand my costumes for this year's Dragoncon. We've been scouring thrift store for pieces. It's amazing what you can pickup for just a few dollars then we get the hard to find pieces at the Ren-Fest.

That's all for now. Everyone have a lovely weekend. See you later, much later. *hugs*

I've got this hilarious mental image of a "crack" team of accountants sitting around at those really old adding machines and one suddenly looking up and saying, "oh dear, it appears we've been grossly underpaying you for the last decade... so sorry about that one!"

Ren Fest in February? Unheard of!

We are backwards. Everyone you might do in late spring and early summer or maybe late summer we do in fall and winter. This is the last Ren-Fest for our area. The Maimi one was a month and half ago. This one started last weekend and runs every weekend until the end of March.

Our accountants must be just as backwards. I love the image. It sounds about right.

Congrats to hubby on the pay rise and daughter on the part time job that's not quite as part time as expected!

I hope you enjoy the classes and have fun this weekend and next week in Texas, Bon!

The job came out of the blue at a time when few employers are hiring the unemployed and it just keeps going. The girls in the office all like her. She fits in well with them, she has steady transportation everyday and she has money to put in the bank for her future. What could be better.

Sounds like an absolutely perfect 'starter' job.

What lovely news all 'round. :)

Thank you for that Good Stuff, you made my day (in a the-world-is-good-place way).
Cheers :)

You're welcome. I could look at all of it and say "it's a about damn time" or it is just coincidence but I feel blessed.

I feel very blessed. We struggled most of our married life with little or no money and now at a time when alot of people are struggling we are doing okay. *puzzles*

What a nice surprise on hubbie's raise! It's never too late for more money. :D

Master Gardener, eh? Sounds like a wonderful class for you. I do hope you enjoy yourself for this and your training next week.

Have fun at Ren-Fest and good luck in finding what you need.

Life sounds busy but good.

That's what you said to me the other morning. I thought about that and I guess I am happiest when I'm busy. ADD people don't do well with boredom. Good call.

The class sounds great - go you!

I keep thinking - finally! I've wanted to take it for so long.
