I think I proved today that I'm still holding onto at least one. I was back at the science museum I used to work with. I was there to design the new backyard garden to go with the expansion program. That's a bit of a brag moment but it fits with the theme. While I was waiting for others to arrive for the meeting I ran into an old childhood friend. We grew up together and are the same age. She is a teacher and was there with a kids' summer camp group.
We exchanged pleasantries about what we were doing and when we saw each other last and then she asked what kids' group I was there with and I told her that I was there to design the garden. She was very impressed which made me giddy inside. After leaving her I realized that after all these years I was still trying to impress the girl that used to always find fault with me.

I agree. I kinda glad I made the effort to talk to her.

And now you most certainly have impressed her, time to forget all about her! ;)

Probably true. We had nothing in common and have rarely had the same friends yet we cross paths about every five years or so. Just seems silly to be afraid to talk and rude not to say hello after all the time we have known each other.

She's a strange bird. A little uppity but she could surprise at times. The big thing is the fact that I married and had children and she didn't but then a number of our friends are still single and we still manage to talk to one another. *shrugs* I don't think I'll ever figure her out.

I fear i might have been a bit more on the "overly" sweet side. Ya know, kill 'em with kindness? I was always that kid in school too, would so love to go to a reunion sometime. I get more of a snide sense of a satisfaction from those sorts of encounters. :)

I sort of took advantage of the situation and made the encounter fairly short. I really think I could have walked right past her without acknowledging her and she would have let me.

I was that insecure teenager, too. Good for you on speaking up and out like that.

Congrats on the new design project! Enjoy the experience. :)

Thanks. *hugs*

I'm trying not look too closely at the project because it is bigger than I thought and I don't want to panic.

It's funny the things we hang onto from our youth, eh?

Well done on the program, but watch feeling the need to meet other people's expectations. Be your own wonderful self!
