Happy New Year!

This year has obviously been a busy year from my absence at LJ and usually at this time I would be vowing to tone things down or turn down an activity or two but I've finally come to the conclusion that I like my life this way. It may be a bit much at times and I grump about schedules and stress but on the whole I want to be busy.

My two favorite trips this year were Hawaii in January and Atlanta (DragonCon) in August. Hawaii was one of those dream trips. Didn't want to come home and DragonCon was my special time with my daughter. It was the first time I'd seen her since she moved to Maine. I guess it will always special for me. There were other trips throughout the year but they just sort of blended together into one big blur.

The pain and joy of the year was getting the roof fixed (at last). It seemed to take forever and yes, the last bit was finished just last week but it really made a difference. I now need to go outside to know if it rained overnight. Now I want to start changing things on the inside of the house cause the outside looks so much better.

I don't know where this year will lead and where I will go except that DragonCon is always on the schedule and I hope to attend conferences in Denver and Seattle. Anything else will depend on schedules and budgets.

My goals for this year is to keep on writing and to lose weight. I'm always trying to lose weight and I wanted to start exercising on January but I'm already seeing road blocks in the plan. My brother is coming in a couple of weeks and Rachel is coming in February and I'm trying to figure how to get everything done. I'm determined that the exercise is going to happen some how.

Christmas was not the disaster that I envisioned. There were no tree traumas or tears. I vowed to just go with the flow and no, the lights never made it to the outside of the house because the porch didn't get finished until after Christmas and the inside decor was just the tree but it was enough. Next year the house will get the full treatment. That's a promise. So Happy New Year to the best flist in the world, thank you for your friendship and your patience when I'm not around for long stretches and no "I told you so" when I finally figure out something that you probably knew for months or years. Here's to a brand-new year with promise and plans and hopes and dreams.

I'm thinking that the writing and traveling will be easier to arrange than the weight loss. I really need a buddy to answer to and keep me accountable.

Hang in there, the weight loss will happen even with baby steps.
