Sweet Comment

Hi everyone, I know I haven't posted in a while. I've been here reading and commenting but saying little about my own activities. Been working around the house, redoing the backyard, painting the outside of the house and getting ready to have the front door replaced. In short keeping out of trouble (mostly).

I'm posting today because of something my daughter wrote on her FB page. I just wish she was close enough to hug. If you don't know I homeschooled both of my children. The oldest had major learning disabilities and our school system kinda' sucks so I did a lot of research and found the right teaching materials for him and then when my daughter was old enough to go to school it just seemed right to keep doing it. I know there are those who wouldn't agree with what I choose to do but apparently my kids thought it was right. This is what my dear daughter had to say the other day. This really helped with the doubts I have at times.

"My mom was amazing and homeschooled me my entire childhood, I never once went to a public school. I remember finding some of her notebooks she wrote in about her days in schooling me and how she wanted to give up so many times because I was such a brat and didn't want to learn (who, me? I don't remember any of this...) but she soldiered on. She gave me the education I needed and taught me how to ask questions in every setting and learn things on my own without needing constant guidance. I wouldn't change it for anything and encourage anyone else considering homeschool to give it a shot, especially if you want your kids to get a personalized curriculum that helps THEM learn, not just a curriculum that is geared toward everyone learning."

Thanks *hugs* She makes me so happy at times like this. It makes me forget the number of times I wanted to send both of them off to school. As they got older the times got fewer believe it or not.

That's awesome.
I would love to home school my youngest. I'm certain he would do better but my hubby hasn't the patience and I work full time.

A job can be a deal breaker if you don't have a spouse who can handle it. We lived on one income for a long time but I don't recommend it for everyone.

Thank you. Talk about making a mom's day. She succeeded in grand style. There were many times when I wondered if I should have done something different. If I was doing the best for her but seeing her now living on her own with a great job and realize that it couldn't have been too bad.

What a wonderful compliment, it couldn't come better.
You should be proud.

Isn't it great to actually hear from your kids you've done it right? Makes you love them even more (if that's even remotely possible!)

It also says a lot about both of you. ;)
Way to go hun!

I get this warm spot in my chest everytime I read it. I just want to reach out and hug her. Why does she have to be so far away?

It's moments like that that make all the stress and worry of raising kids worth every gray hair. :D

Yeah, but did there have to be so many of them (gray hairs)?
