Denver Trip (Final Day)

Ooops, I forgot to post the last day of the trip. Of course the conference ended and I had to say farewell to the Denver Botanic Garden (Boo!) but you have to leave eventually and I had plans for the afternoon. While a bunch of the others went to a brewery and hops farm in Boulder, I dashed back to the hotel, dropped off all my goods from the last meetings and jumped in a taxi for The Molly Brown Museum House. To me that place is a most see. Of course I adored the movie The Unsinkable Molly Brown with Debbie Reynolds. The guide did a lot of comparing between the movie portrayal and Molly Brown's real life. There are a lot of difference but I just enjoyed seeing the real house and hearing more about her and J.J. Brown. They didn't allow any pictures inside the house but I took a few outside to post here. After the tour of the house I walked back up Pennsylvania Ave. (now Street) and down past the capitol building and the U.S. Mint and then over to an exhibit of da Vinci and Michelangelo artwork. I had planned to ride the tram up and down the 16th Mall but the weather had other ideas and I ended up running (walking fast) back to the hotel through the rain and soaking in the hot tub for a little while before meeting some friends for drinks and saying goodbye for another year.
I wish I could show you the inside of the house. It was refurbished to match photographs that Molly had taken of the interior.

I have to admit I never saw the movie but the house looks nice.

Always sad to say goodbye when having a good time huh? ;)

It was even nicer on the inside. The restoration committee did a great job of putting it back the way Molly had it.

I hate when we have to say good-bye after spending 3 or 4 together and then have to go back to our separate home and states but there is always next year.

I love the old house tucked in between the more modern looking buildings. I tried to imagine what it was like when the two lots next to it were just lawn and trees and Molly could have grand parties on them.
