Visit to the botanic garden

Sorry but I couldn't just post a couple of pictures from the botanic garden we visited while Rachel was here. There was too much to see there. I'll hide the rest if you just want to go on by.

We visited Fairchild Tropical Gardens last Thursday. It was a bit rainy but that didn't stop us. The gardens has acquired a butterfly exhibit as well as absorbing the local chapter of the American Orchid Society Garden. It quite a deal especially when a couple of us have horticultural memberships. There are orchids, bromeliads and other cool flowers. There is even a butterfly and a cute little green lizard if you look real close.

Is that a purple mandevilla? It's beautiful.

Also, do you know the name of the plant with the purple and white flowers? I've seen them around here and it's always fascinated me how you can get purple and white flowers on the one plant.

Yes, I believe it is a mandevilla.

The other flower is a yesterday, today and tomorrow plant. The flowers change color as they age. They start out purple and fade to white before they are spent.
