Good ending to a possible tragic situation

I've been feeding this little cat in my backyard for several months. Didn't know if it was a girl or a boy. It looked very sad, one fogged over eye, matted hair and a sore mouth. The kitty wouldn't let me touch it and would run whenever I tried to pick it up. It didn't clean itself or stay out of the rain. I was trying to figure out what I was going to do about the cat during the following week while the family was away for the wedding and then the situation came to a head last night. I went out to put out food and the cat looked really bad. I reached down to touch it and its fur was soaked. It's been raining for three days. In the heat of the moment I grabbed the cat up before it could run away and carried it inside calling for a towel the whole way. I spent all last evening trying to rub its fur dry and start to get some of the tangles out. The tangles were horrendeous and its breath was absolutely gaggy but the cat loved the towel and burrowed down in it for hours. I finally had to go to bed sometime in the wee hours of the morning and not wanting to put the cat back out I put it in the bathroom with food, water and a clean towel. I took the cat to the vet this morning wondering how I was going to pay for it and what I was going to do afterwards. I had a little bit of money in my purse but everything else was tied up with the wedding next week. I told this to the vet and she and her office manage worked things out so the grand total for this visit was only $15 more than what was in my purse. That is a miracle since they didn't know how much I had in my purse. Kitty desperately needs a cleaning and at least one infected tooth removed. They can't do anything with the eye. It turns out it is a she so I figure I'll have to have her fixed later and get any shots she needs. I still can't believe that the money part worked out. Now I need to find someone to feed her while we are gone. She is black with a white chest and paws and I think she will look quite pretty once she is cleaned up. I guess it is time to think of a name for her. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She is a sweet little thing that has had a rough life.

I hadn't realised the wedding was this soon! So exciting! I hope it will be a day to remember! If you're comfortable with it, I'd like to see pictures. ;)

Poor little kitten. And lucky little kitten as well! ;)
I think Socks would be an appropriate name.

Could luck with the wedding!
