MIA Post

I can't believe I've been gone from LJ for so long. My last post was a month ago and it was just a birthday post. RL has truly been kicking my butt. My life (both our lives) seem to revolve around the condition of our car. It has been in the shop more than with us for the last two months. Right now I have a rental car. We decided last night to just go ahead and get the rental that we needed for this weekend and be done with it. The shop thinks they have finally found the underlying cause of our car's problem and are working on it. I'm wondering how much more it will cost us. We were both seriously considering going to look for a new car especially while I was sitting by the side of the road (again) waiting for a tow truck.

This week is my mother's 90th birthday and the family is gathering in Atlanta to celebrate. I'm hoping it will turn into a mini reunion as my siblings and I haven't been together in the same place in quite some time. There will also be several of our children (Yah! I get to see Rachel!) and their children. I'm hoping this is going to be a good thing for mom. Her memory is getting worse and worse and my sister said not to be surprised if mom doesn't recognize people at first.

I have a ton of things to do before we leave this weekend. I'm thinking it is time to make the list. I have laundry, color hair, cut lawn (another annoying story), clean living room, meet with pet sitter (little Molly is good well), pack and finish birthday presents. Unfortunately there is nothing in there about swimming and exercising which drives me crazy but again that's another story. There just isn't time for it so it will have to wait until I return. Boo! Yesterday was almost a total bust except that while I was sitting in the repair shop waiting for word about the car I worked on my mom's birthday present. I'm making her a scrapebook of the postcards she sent to me when she still traveled. Her postcards gave me the desire to see the world one place at a time and now that her memory is failing her I hoped to give her a few memories back. I working toward getting all the pictures, stickers and supplies I need together so if I don't get the last few pages physically put together I can finish them on the long drive to Atlanta.

I'm looking for a few extra hours in the coming days so everything can get done. I hope everyone else is doing well and I'll try to return real soon with more news. If not this week than next with birthday pictures and such. Have a happy day, everyone. *hugs*

I promise to post the results. Mom is excited about it. My sister reminds her regularly about it and she gets excited all over again.

Obviously I read your second post first... *g*

Ninety is such a great age, I'm sorry to hear her memory is getting worse.

I hope the car can be fixed and it won't cost too much.

I'm trying to get back in the habit of posting. I've been so slack about it.

I'm glad she is still with us no matter what. She is my children's last living grandparent and my mom so I'll take what I can get.

That car is so frustrating. It doesn't mess up all the time so the mechanic has had a tough time figuring out the problem.

I've been around but haven't posted much either. I'm still working on my writing so that might change. *g*

I know how you feel. My dad celebrated his 91st birthday last summer and my mum will be 87 in a week or two. I'm so grateful they're still part of my life.
Make some more great memories!

I hope they figure it out soon hun. It's no fun when you can't rely on your car to get you where you want to go.
