June Challenge (Nature Closeup)

I almost forgot to post. This was not the one I planned on doing today but t he pictures are on my office computer. These are two visitors to my garden last week. They turned out pretty good so I'll post them. I'm still not sure of the lizard's name except that it is not native but of course the second one is a monarch butterfly. It was a female busy laying eggs on its baby's favorite (only) food source - the milkweed.

He looks kind of like a type of skink.

You could be right about that. I'm going to try looking him up again. They all have three colors - green head, brownish pattern body and red tails and I've seen a couple recently that were over a foot long.

Love the lizard! Very pretty colours.

The butterfly is gorgeous too. We don't see many butterflies here anymore, mainly because people don't have gardens anymore.
