Happy New Year (goals for 2017)

It's been a pretty incredible year for some goals. Not so much for others. I started the year with a list of items to get done and learned an important lesson. If I put a definite date on the goal I got it done or closer to done than if it was just put on the list. My big goal was my weight loss. I went from 228 to 160 and overall I went from 285 to 160. Measurements: waist 46 to 30, dress size 24 to 10. I'm very, very pleased with it. I plan to turn be in better shape in two years when I turn 60 than I was at 50 and maintain my weight. I'm trying to strength my arms and legs so I don't look so skinny.

I did the usual traveling this year but no new state though one new city. I have plenty of traveling coming this year and hopefully four new states starting with Arizona later this week. It wasn't too much travel this year. I tried to be choosy and pick the trips I could get the most out of. This year I plan to visit Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and Rhode Island.

Lots of drama in the family but it is pretty much settled now with my mom in a memory care center. We ended up with two new pets - Randy and Suzy (mom's cats). That was the good part of all this. Mom seems happy at the home and my sister's household is settling down. I lost Molly (our stray kitty) this year which makes Randy and Suzy presence much sweeter. I plan to settle the cats into our household and try to maintain a relationship with my mom despite her failing memory. I have started a memory book for her so she has a constant reminder of family members and their appearance.

The house organizing didn't work out too well. I worked on the areas that were absolutely necessary like Rachel's bedroom and some of the living room but not much more. Hubbie and I plan to work on one room at a time until it is finished and than move on. I did take down the indoor Christmas decorations. I thought it safer than having kitties climbing trees. The outdoor decorations are still up and will probably stay up until I get back from Arizona. I'm planning to start with Rachel's room. I got it clear enough for our son to stay over on Christmas Eve and to make a comfortable nighttime room for the cat but there is still much to do. I'm going to start with organizing the file cabinet and my teaching supplies on the shelves.

Happy New Year to everyone. May this year bring as many successes as challenges.

Thank you. I'm wishing the same things for you and the kitties are wonderful. I love letting them out of their room in the morning and having a kitty sit on my lap in the evening. They have started to play with the toys I bought. I'll probably get them a few more when the get home from the next trip.

It has been a great year. Arizona was fun and a went to my first pilates class last night. It was hard and I expected to be sore this morning but I'm not. I think that's a good sign. I haven't started on anything (house-wise ) yet but then I've only been home for 2 days and I'm trying to get back in the swing on things (catching up and all that).
