100 Things that make me smile!

Today started with a growl and a groan and ended with a gasp and a smile. I was beginning to think that accepting help from my neighbors came with disappointment but one of them really surprised me. I know that my neighbors and I have a very different opinions on landscaping but what my neighbor to the right of me did today (or probably yesterday) was wonderful. The neighbor came to me saying he had a few fence pieces left after replacing his own fence and wanted to know if I wanted him to use them to fill the couple of gaps in our fence. I agreed and then didn't see anything happen. I figured after looking at his fence and then ours that the pieces were too wide (not compatible). This morning I was watering my plants out by the shed and noticed one of the cross pieces on the gate had been replaced or re-enforced and that the gate hung straighter than it had before. When I left to go to work I saw the real change. The neighbor had replaced or fronted the whole gate and connecting section with new wood. I didn't have time to take a picture of it as I was driving but maybe I can add a pic later. I have to tell him thank you because that was more than just replacing a couple of missing boards. Neighbors can surprise you. Mine certainly have lately. I keep thinking I must have missed a meeting somewhere along the way.

Edit on the post. I got to really looking at the fence and discovered something different but equally generous. The neighbor sanded the boards on the fence and did replace the two missing ones. It is not new wood but it was still a lot of work on his part and looks really good.
