100 Things that make me smile

Visited Fort Adams in Newport, R.I. and the busy town. This was truly cool. It's the largest coastal fort in the U.S. It can fit three other U.S. forts (Fort Sumter, Fort McHenry, Fort Ticonderoga) on the parade grounds in the center of the fort. The fort never fired a shot in aggression but from the way it was designed little could have stood against it. The guide was great, showing us the tops of the walls and its unique green roofs, officers quarters, the outer defenses and even the low roofed listening tunnels below the walls and everything in between (well, the parts that were safe to enter). A lot of the fort is still under reconstructions. It was cool. Most of the pictures were around the edges because a big folk festivals started the next day and the whole parade grounds were being used for stages and vendor tents.

I loved the seaside towns and the New England architecture and of course the fort was marvelous. Two trips and two forts. Didn't expect that.

I love being close to water but Florida for the most part is so modern. The new England style houses and buildings were refreshing.
