100 Things that make me smile!

One more look through my travel pictures yielded a second fort Fort Vancouver - Vancouver, Washington. A completely different style from that of Fort Adams in Rhode Island. This is a wooden fort of the style that one would expect in the Wild West. It still has a couple of the original buildings and one can see where many others used to be located. I especially loved the garden outside the front gates. I first went by the fort at dusk but after discovering the beautiful flower and vegetable garden I had to go back so I could take some proper pictures.

That is so cool. If you ever get to Sacramento you need to visit Sutter's Fort downtown.

People keep telling me about places in California. I'm definitely going to need to get there one of these days.

There are open mine museums in Grass Valley and Placerville, Sutter's Fort and the Indian museum by it in Sacramento (not to mention the zoo and fairytale town). You tell me what you want, I have ideas

No plans right now but if the occasion presents itself I'll know who to ask.

*grins* while we are having recommendations in California, go to Yosemite! My best place ever.

Love the old buildings!

Yes, I like this one because of the feel of it. Most (if not all) the other forts I've been to are stone structures and this one had age to its appearance and it was like the Old West movies.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'm going to have quite a list for when I do eventually get to California (wherever that is).

That really looks like a film set of a western. *g*

Love the flowers, especially the orange ones (Are those daisies?) and the small yellow ones, is that a herb? or is it mimosa? (seen that once in France but it's a long time ago and I'm not sure...)

Very pretty, all of them!

I thought the orange ones were sunflowers but I can't see the rest of the plant so not sure. The yellow flower is yarrow so yes, an herb.

No matter the name... I like them very much. ;)

We call it 'thousand-leave'. ;) Very pretty.
