100 Things that make me smile!

Enjoying the pictures from my day off yesterday. I wandering the parks between picking a few things up and doing some laundry. I love the bits of color and catching a few animals going about their daily routine and of course the blue sky with some innocent white clouds that were not raining on me for once.

Oh! And this guy. He was by the lake over by the laundry.

Glad I didn't find him in the office. I think I'd have just packed up and left it to him.

Nice photos. I love the tortoise and that gorgeous Morning Glory. Thanks for sharing.

I was surprised to see not one but two gopher tortoises out and about. I guess it was still early enough that not many hikers had been through the area (if any).

I love Morning Glory, one of my gardening plans is seeding it next spring.

I wouldn't be happy to meet that guy at all... smileys-scare-394425

That was the only open flower I saw but then they didn't last long as the sun gets up and it was about 10:30-11:00 by then.

It is amazing that despite how formitible iguanas look (and this one is definitely an adult because of the orange coloring) it doesn't take much to get them running in the opposite direction. This guy took off as soon as he felt I was too close.

That iguana looks huge! I've never met one and if they all look like him, I'd be running in the opposite direction!

He is big. The body is probably almost two feet and then another two feet of tail. This guy looks fierce but the minute I got close he ran the other way. I've never seen one attack unless it is a defensive move. Believe it or not, people keep them as pets which is probably how they ended up here in such numbers. People release them into the wild when the lizards get too big. They are plant eaters and eat just about everything.

Nice big iguana!

I've never seen anything like that in the wild but Son1 met a rather angry monitor lizard in Borneo once. He and his companions retreated very quickly!

Um, monitor lizard? Yes, I would retreat, too. They are like angry bulls beside the iguanas. This one ran off as soon as I got too close. He was in for a fight unless I was another iguana.
