kitty question/thought

Since Randy's unexpected passing I have been thinking about Suzy (our remaining kitty). She has been around other cats for most of her life. My mom took her in when she was barely full grown and already pregnant. She lived her whole life (7 yrs so far) with two other cats (Randy and Sandy) and now she is suddenly alone most of the time. We both work and travel several times a year which is really going to leave her alone. I've already heard her crying after we put her in her bedroom at night. Now I know the loss is still new and she might adjust but I'm already thinking of getting her a companion (another adult cat). She's very friendly and loved to "mother" Randy and also put him in his place from time to time but she also played with him. Maybe because he was twice her size or maybe just because she was female and most of the females we have had have been the boss of the house. Anyway I'm considered asking at the vet which is also a cat adoption center about any adult male cat they might have that would be a good match for Suzy. Does it sound like I'm moving too fast? We will be going out of town early in January. Reservations and tickets are all purchased so that is set.

Pets grieve just like people, and cats are a 'pack' animal, they need friends. Sadly we are merely human and don't fit the bill. I don't think looking for a new friend would be a bad idea, just be as picky as you need to be.

The biggest hurtle was my husband but I took him out for a nice meal. The waiter put us in a side room by ourselves and I quietly explained it to him and surprising he agreed.
I went by the vet's office today to pay Randy's bill and talked with the lady in the adoption center. I'd seen a male cat called Baby who was the right age and possibly the right temperament but was told Baby had issued he was still dealing with. The lady showed me a big ginger cat named Bob but he looked too much like Randy. It was kinda' scary and sad. She told me she would look over the ones she had and call me.

Oranges are hard to tell sometimes. They're either great cats or demons. (see Daisy and Milo for example). If you can find a part Maine Coon they're wonderful and friendly.

We've had three orange cats (Queenie, Milo and most recently Randy). They have all been pretty sweet cats but it's just too soon for someone who looks just like Randy. Put white feet on him and give him back a second eye and Bob would be the spitting image of Randy. He was even the same size.

Suzy sounds very sweet and caring, I think your concern is quite right. I'm not professional about this kind of issue, but a new companion may reduce her sorrow...

I wish one of my (five) cats could be like Suzy. They don't like each other that much. *sighs*

She's my little momma cat. She needs someone to love on. I want her days to be happy and not just waiting for us to come home.
