Having just gotten back from another work related trip, I have nothing to show for it in pictures. Not a big deal since it was to our state capital and all the pics would have been of meetings and political events. I decided instead to back up to early January when I visited Nashville, TN. It's still work related but the scenery is much prettier. The Gaylord Hotels are known for their unique arrangements and multi-sectional buildings. The Opryland Gaylord has a Southern theme with sections devoted to waterfalls, New Orleans (the Delta), and tropical rain forests. Arriving just after Christmas we were treated to many of the holidays lights and decorations on display. There were more colors of poinsettia than I've ever seen. I had to envy the gardeners who got to work in this place. It must be wonderful to spend all your days creating beautiful things.

The lights and decorations were just as grand as the flowers and keeping with the musical theme of the town.

There were the various decors to match the themes like the the fountains and waterfalls of the Cascades and the Miniature New Orleans town and river to go with the Delta and of course the thick palms and orchids of the tropical rain forest.

The outside was pretty cool, too. On one corner of the property was a life-sized manger scene depicting Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem as well as the approach of the shepherd and some impressive angels. It was fun walking around the whole scene taking pictures from different angles.

A few random pics to round it out: Santa on vacation (my hubbie), proof that I ran the 5K and though no snow definitely ice and frozen ponds. It was cold! Oh! And the view from our hotel room balcony (or since it's on the main floor - patio? still quite nice)

Yes, definitely pretty. I could live in their indoor/outdoor world for awhile. That is if I could afford the rates.

Beautiful pictures!

I'm not too (read: absolutely not) fond of poinsettias; never have been and never will, but the colours are really pretty.

Love those statues! Very nice!

Never been fond of them either but like yourself the variety of colors floored me and there were probably others that I didn't photograph or did come out as well.

I loved that all the statues were in brilliant white.
