Work Tension

I should have started with this post for it was one of the main reasons for movie night. I needed the distraction. Work or just being at the office is very stressful lately. I spend a lot of time alone in the building since our insurance agents rented their own office space. My boss is at meeting somewhere in the community most days and our large covered porch that wraps around two sides of our building
is very attractive to the local homeless community. Yes, I have to call them a community because it is the same group of people hanging around day in and day out. I don't like to chase them off because I feel bad for their situation especially when the weather is poor like it has been (rain and lots of it) but they sort of set up housekeeping and leave their garbage and blankets and stuff lying around or stuffed behind the hedges. When it gets really bad the boss get cited or fined for it.

Lately a woman in the neighborhood has taken up their cause and has vowed to do something about them. Help them out even though they usually refuse help beyond money. The woman has taken to coming into the office and asking me what I plan to do about it. What can I do? Call the police when they trespass? I'm afraid to approach them alone or to get them mad at me because well, I'm alone in the building. It came to a head yesterday. The neighborhood woman called fire and rescue at least three times for this one particular homeless lady. She was determined to get her help though each time the lady walked away refusing help. I'm not sure what I can do and I don't feel very safe here these days. The building is unofficially up for sale and after days like yesterday a firm offer can't come too soon for me. I'm ready to be elsewhere even if it means working from home and driving more each day. I locked the front door yesterday and it is still locked this morning. I'm not sure who I'm trying to keep out - the homeless people or the neighborhood woman.
